Water Hemlock can be indentified by using your sense of smell and vision. At the base of the Water Hemlock stem (the part near the root) there will always be purple spots and a greenish-bluish appearence. If you break the stem and smell it, it will smell of mice, or a funky animal smell. No other plant similar to Water Hemlock will have these characteristics.
