Try adjusting clutch cable. 5 minute job. Worked for me after weeks of suffering with the gear change from Hell on a used Matiz.

i had the very same problem on my 1999 matiz,it was a broken wire on the fuel injector.(i'd changed the distributor cap, fuel filter, plugs etc before finding out it was this)hope this helps.

51U provided it is the M100 model 1999-2004 i think, they only do one colour of golden/yellow for this age
I see no listing for the Daewoo Matiz. Other Daewoos are all Interferance engines, and as such if the belt breaks severe engine damage will occur. Here are other Daewoo models and the specs in miles for belt replacement. Find your engine and it will be the same. Lanos 1999-02 1.6L 4-Cyl. The recommended tyre pressures for a 1999 T reg. 0.8 SE Daewoo Matiz, according to the plate by the drivers (R/Hnd drive) door jamb is; 30 psi. (2.1 bar) front and 30 psi. (2.1 bar) rear, up to 3 passengers. 30 psi. (2.1 bar) front and 34 psi. (2.3 bar) rear, full load. Hope this is useful to someone!
The 800cc engines are NOT non interference engines. I recently bought a matiz with a snapped cambelt. After reading online that it was a safe engine I simply reset the timing and fitted a new cambelt. The car seemed to run fine so I thought I was in the clear. 12 miles later one of the valves snapped and killed the engine, lots! I stripped the engine down after I'd removed it from the car and found that 5 out of 6 valves were bent.
quite easy it has a slide bracket on alternater slide one way it is loose slide the other way it will tighten. quite easy it has a slide bracket on alternater slide one way it is loose slide the other way it will tighten.
I had a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina with a 3.1 liter engine and the average I drove was 29 miles per gallon. I have never encountered a way to improve getting better mileage. It just really depends how a person drives.
