You need to know what you are doing installing an electric panel box where breakers are located. If it is a main panel you would have to turn off power to the house. This is done by removing the electric meter. You have to know about wire sizes, how to make connections and other things. If you are trying to replace an existing main panel the wires are often not long enough and you have to either extend wires insode box or in satellite boxes.

If you are installing a subpanel to an existing box you need to provide proper cable between boxes. You also have to bond the grounds to box in a specified way when multiple boxes are used.

It is best to study a how-to book and ask specific questions. This can be very dangerous work if you don't know what you are doing. You can either kill yourself on the buss bars or burn down the house with faulty design.

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.

Before you do any work yourself,

on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,

always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

By asking this question you are probably not quite ready to take on this particular task.

You may or may not get lucky and receive some information in an answer here!

If you hope to get enough information on this site to be able to do this job properly and safely, please do not rely on getting accurate information about such a potentially dangerous subject.

Really, don't do this one yourself. Electricity is far too dangerous to handle if you have not been trained how to do this work.

How to do this job depends entirely on the Wiring Codes or Regulations for the locality (Town/State) and on the exact locations of the new power outlets you wish to install, to be supplied by the new fuse or breaker box. If they are to be located anywhere that is subject to water splashes or spray - such as in any room supplied with running water pipes, like a kitchen, bathroom, shower room, etc., or in a pool-side area - in many places nowadays it is actually illegal to attempt to do this kind of work unless you are already a licensed electrician.

If you don't want to go to your local library or bookstore - to find and read some books about electrical wiring and appliances and how to install them safely, and to find out about your local Wiring Codes and Regulations - then the best advice anyone should give to you is to call a licensed electrician either to do the job for you or to advise you what you may be allowed to do yourself.

If you do this work yourself, always turn off the power

at the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work AND

always use an electrician's test meter having metal-tipped probes

(not a simple proximity voltage indicator)

to insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

How do you replace a 15 amp breaker in the circuit box?

The breaker will have a black wire connected to it. Turn off the main breaker and then disconnect that black wire from the breaker. The breaker will snap into the main bar. Remove the breaker and install the new one. Reconnect the black wire to the breaker and then install the cover and turn the main breaker back on.

Is it unsafe to have 60A service going into a new electrical box designed for 100A?

Its not recommended because your new main breaker will allow up to 100 amps and your old wire can only safely handle 60amps. If you put a 60amp main breaker in the new box, that would be acceptable. No, it is perfectly safe. Because the box is overrated, there is no problem. If the box is the main panel, and not a subpanel, install a 60A main breaker so you cannot overload your service. If it is a subpanel this 60A breaker should be in the main panel.

Yes. It is best to run a line from main breaker box to a separate 220V box with it's own breaker. You will need a licensed electrician to install if you are'NT comfortable doing this type of installation yourself.

How do you install a 110v receptacle from a 3 phase breaker box if there are no neutrals in the breaker box?

If there is no neutral available you cannot, unless you use an autotransformer and derive a neutral. A panel with no neutral is called a power panel and is used to supply 240 single and three phase loads.

Can you install a 2 20 breaker into a breaker box that has space but all other breakers add up to more amps than the 200 amp main breaker?

Yes. You'll seldom run every circuit to full capacity. The main breaker will trip if all the individual circuits exceed the 200 amp rating of the main breaker.

Can you install a 240v outlet for a stick welder near your panel if it has slots available for a circuit breaker?

Simple answer is yes. But you need to first determine if your breaker can handle it, not just because you have an empty slot. You have to total up amps being used and check rating for your box. If it can handle it then it is a sinch to install
