Best Answer

Use a good quality salad spinner and go through about 3 cycles, emptying water out each time. Then blot leaves dry with paper towels. Store in air tight containers or high quality ziplock bags. Enjoy!

You have to put the greens in a ziploc bag that is air tight so no air will get in and at the bottom of the greens if they have stems wrap a wet paper towel around them to keep a little moisture in them..

Why do fresh cut lettuce go limp but when you buy it from the supermarket it is crisp?

Don't cut lettuce with a knife; tear it instead. Before you refrigerate it, put it into a plastic bag and twist to seal. It will stay crisp for quite a while. The same technique works for celery and other vegetables. There are special lettuce containers available but they're a waste of money; a simple plastic bag does the job just fine.
