Park the car in a garage each night with the garage door shut. Other than that, there is not much you can do to prevent them from doing this. Try not to worry too much, as soon as a person approaches the vehicle the cat will be away within seconds. They are unlikely to come to harm from the vehicle. Of course, they do sometimes end up with oil stains on their fur which (as long as not smothered obviously) they will clean off over time.

You can put a sticky tape substance on top of the car, or keep the cat inside.
