One way to kill nutgrass is to use sugar. Sugar is one proven way to kill the nutgrass.
nutgrass
'Extrapone nutgrass was developed by Germany-based Symrise to treat skin irritation; however, they also discovered that this natural plant extract was able to make skin fairer! Clinical trials have proven that it is effective in banishing skin discolorations and hyperpigmentation problems like sun spots, age spots, and even freckles. What resulted was lighter skin and an even, smooth complexion. It is derived from the nutgrass plant, Cyperus rotundus, which grows in the wild in India.' http://wltips.com/1/What-Skin-Lightening-Products-Should-I-Use-to-Lighten-My-Face-.html
I've been fighting it for a while and so far the only absolute way to get rid of it seems to be sell the property and move far away.If you're not willing or able to move I read about this in the local paper, the Long Beach Press Telegram ( http://www.presstelegram.com ). This quote is taken from In Your Garden, by jchristensen@earthlink.net, on July 5, 2008. Ref: http://www.dailybulletin.com/inlandliving/ci_9789583Sprays don't stop nutgrass, but this technique (plus your persistence and patience) will work. Remove as much of the weed as possible, apply lawn food, then cover the ground with several layers of landscape fabric, and cover it with chipped bark or mulch. Keep it there for at least a year to block out sunlight and starve the nutgrass to death while still permitting water and plant food in to nourish nearby desirable shrubbery. Nutgrass cannot grow through the fabric, but you'll need to make sure no sprouts sneak up around seams or edges or around the trunks of good plants; if so, that nasty nutgrass will take over again.
u can find it from an ayurveda medicine shop... ask to give you the root of it and u can apply the paste with rose water and glycerine.
A friend of the family bought a suburban house on a block which was full of guildford grass. He completely dug up his existing lawn and grew potatoes for one season. That completely eradicated the bulbs of nutgrass or guildford grass for once and for all.
