The simplest design would probably be of the 'nissen hut' or 'quonset hut' design. These look like a tube that is split down the middle and placed on the ground, that is, they have a semi- circular cross section. They were made of corrugated iron sheets so corrugated cardboard could be a good cheap material to use.
ANS 2 -WW2 hangars were quite simple shape and came in many sizes. Thin cardboard would be good to make it of. Usually in 1/72 they would be about 18" x 20" and 4" high. The roofs of most hangars were curved. Placing a 1/72 plane in front would give good idea of scale.
