I have the same problem...guess the only way is to take it to a mechanic (dealer) and pay them.
Sure, the hood release is not electrical it is mechanical. Just open the door with your key and pull the hood release.
To open the hood on the 2000 Beetle if the hood release lever is broken inside the car, you can remove the glove compartment of the vehicle and find the release cable inside the dashboard. Pull the cable to open the hood. You will then need to replace the hood release lever.?æ
On a 1999 Navigator it is located right up under the hood where the passenger headlight is. Needs to move from left to right...
No not without body surgery
try having someone hold the release lever while someone else bangs on the front of the hood.
You will need to remove the grill from your 2000 GMC Jimmy. With the grill removed. You can remove the hood latch retaining bolts. The hood will be released with the latch bolts removed.
Oh man that is a nightmare. I got the same problem and I guess I have to buy me a new Hood Release and Cable to relief me from that problem. It is sickening
need to get under truck and look for tension cable, use needlenose pliers and yank the cable to where the hood pops. If cable is not attached to the hinge of the hood you have to unhinge the hood manually by pressing the hinge's lower tab. the latter mentioned is complex wear long sleeve shirt since you are working very close to the condenser and radiator which are very sharp.
Unlock the door with your key. Reach under the dash on the drivers side and pull the hood release.
Pull the hood release
The hood release is inside. Once you have pulled the release the hood opens backwards.
my 1998 mountaineer hood release will not work. Is there another way to open it?
