Secondary colours are achieved by mixing equal parts of any two of the three primary colours.

Red + Yellow = Orange

Red + Blue = Purple

Yellow + Blue = Green

Tertiary or intermediate colours are achieved by adding an extra part of one of the foundation primary colour to the secondary colour.

Red + Orange = Red-orange

Yellow + Orange = Yellow=orange

Red + Purple = Red-purple

Blue + Purple = Blue-purple

Yellow + Green = Yellow-green

Blue + Green = Blue-green

Any and all of these colours can be altered by the addition of white and/or black in varying amounts to achieve additional colours.

What are primary secondary and intermediate colors?

These are terms that came from painters, and others who studied and used pigments. Primary colors are colors from which all others can be made: red, blue, and yellow. Secondary colors are made by mixing two primary colors; yellow and blue make green, blue and red make violet, and red and yellow make orange. Intermediate (or tertiary) colors are made by mixing a primary with an adjacent secondary (mixing it with a non-adjacent secondary will produce brown). For instance, blue and violet make violet-blue, red and orange make red-orange, yellow and green make yellow-green, and so on.

The tertiary colors are created by mixing two secondary colors together. Sometimes the intermediates are referred to as tertiary colors, BUT remember it isn't the other way around.Examples of Tertiary colors:- Orange + purple = russet- Orange + green =citron- Purple + green = olive(These aren't all of the tertiary colors)A way that you can tell intermediate and tertiary colors a part is that true tertiary colors have names of their own.
