One way is to culture the bacteria on a sterile agar plate with a small sample of the soil. After incubating the sample at about 20 degrees (Celsius) for a couple of days you should be able to see the bacteria, it's normally either a shiny patch or it's a yellowish colour. With soil though, there will most likely be a large amount of fungal growth, which you can identify by it's white, fuzzy appearance.

Bacteria and fungi are types of organisms that are found in soil.
there are 1 billion bacteria in 1 gram of soil.
Denitrofying bacteria help to metabolize nitrogen so that they can use the it. These bacteria take available nitrogen from the soil, as opposed to nitrifying bacteria that increase available nitrogen in the soil.
When we spray water on soil, bacteria known as antinomycytes get damp and start floating in air.It is the bacteria that smells not the soil.
