If the phone asks you to do it just click "reboot" otherwise, remove the cover from the back and take the battery out for 10secs put the battery back in the phone and wait for the red LED on the front of the phone to turn off and then start your BlackBerry back up again which will take at least 10mins.
While the phone is turned on, pull the battery, then replace the battery, making sure you do not touch any buttons on the keypad. This will hard reset the blackberry (reboot).
you lose your data and your are left with what you began with when you got it
If you need to reboot your BlackBerry because it fails to load properly make sure you leave the battery out for more than just a few seconds. If you replace it too quickly your BlackBerry will tell you your correct password is incorrect. Ensure you leave the battery out for, say, a minute. Make sure the contacts are clean. Replace, wait for the the reboot to complete and your Blackberry will ask you to key in the word 'blackberry'. Once you have done this then key in your password and it will be accepted.
Pull out the battery while the phone is turned on (make sure that you do not touch any buttons), then put the battery back in (it is called a hard reset) it fixes almost everything on a blackberry.
Hold alt+shift+del to do a full reboot. If that doesn't fix it, pull the battery for a minute and put in it.
$su $reboot or $sudo reboot
