In the long term, Hydro electric, solar and wind power will reduce the relaiance on coal or gas. This is still a long way off as these 'fuels' will take time to become viable and are currently cost prohibitive. In the short term, nuclear power cas be relatively quickly installed into existing coal fired furnances. France has been very heavily nuclear for over 10 years. Unfortunately the disaster at Chernobyl (didn't need to happen, beaurocratic bungle) and the Japanese breakdown have caused some fears as to nuclear power. However, it is about the only viable short term answer unless we all start using alot less electricity. Unfortunately, we all want light, power and warmth whilst using more and more technology. All this requires increasing amounts of power. Batteries aren't the answer as they have to be recharged (more power used) and how do you safely dispose of the waste? If we all turned off our lights, power etc for an extra hour each day, it would be a big start.
The only advantage of producing electricity from coal is that it will cost cheaper.
to reduce, reuse, and recycle everything you can
in many sources we are producing electricity. They are water, from combustion of coal , from wind , from biomass ,and from nuclear power
all of you people need to get a life and grow up
The United States produces about 20% of the world's supply of coal. Montana is the state with the most coal reserves, but Wyoming is the top coal-producing state. Coal generates about half of the electricity used in the United States.
Since coal is used for electricity you can save coal for electricity
the coal fuels or powers the electricity
You cannot get electricity from coal. Electricity and coal are two very different types of material.
'''No.''' Oil and Natural Gas can also be used to produce electricity. Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal and hydro-power are also some other ways of producing electricity. There are millions more.
yes coal is a good producer of electricity.
Using coal to generate electricity. (APEX)
Coal is plentiful, easy to move and quite efficient at producing electricity, but it is extremely polluting, releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
