The database which the photo gallery may be corrupted. You can rebuild the database by following Microsofts instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944221/en-us
When you are viewing a photo and have the option to edit it start to edit and then hit make a copy.

Put in the Windows 7 repair disc, it will ask you some stuff just choose fix start-up.

to save a photo get a camera and look through it by pressing R1 then press L1 to save the photo. You can view it by pressing start and going to gallery.
