Okay, so I used to have the same dilemma as you, but there are some easy and simple ways to protect your hair from split ends when growing it out. So here's a few tips that may help you. 1. Garnier Fructis Length and Strenth is perfect to use if you are growing out your hair and don't want to get it trimmed until you are at your ideal length. It doesn't weight your hair down, and it protects against every day damage, such as blow drying your hair, using a flat iron, curling iron, etc. I would also recommend Pantente Full and Thick. It's very creamy and detangling and it smells GREAT! 2. Try to stay away from the ponytail. I know it feels great sometimes to get it off your neck at school or whenever you're hot, but it really is not good for your hair. If you absolutely have to put your hair in a ponytail (you know, Ballet, track(which i do), or any other sport), use a type of hair elastic called "ouchless". they are very skinny and EXTREMELY loose fitting. Refrain from using the classic thick, black, tight ponytail holders. 3. HAVE PATIENCE. when i grow my hair out (like right now :)) if you really work at taking care of it, you will not have to worry as much about going and getting it trimmed. Okay, so if you look like a hobo that that has never brushed your hair before go get it trimmed. But seriously, sometimes when you tell a salon sylist to get 1/2 off your hair, a half an inch to them is 2 inches. Ask me how i know this. ;) good luck!
