I don't know if this is a solve all answer or not, but what I do is stretch. Not just before you exercise, but after you exercise. Also, the more you do the repetitive exercise as a part of your routine, the less your muscles will hurt. You can also try taking a hot bath or sit in a hottub, this will help relax the muscles some. The best thing for me though has always been stretching afterward.
Well, many people like aloe gels/creams for irritated skin. Or you can try an ice pack wrapped in a towel.
Personally I make sure to have a good wash, then wear loose fitting clothes/underwear, preferably with smooth seams until the soreness recedes.
