1.Determine what operating system it uses. Finding out what operating system your laptop uses will let you know what key combo (such as "Ctrl+Alt+Delete") can exit you from usage and trigger a reboot or shutdown. 2.Try and reboot using the operating system. Attempt to use the key combination that will allow you to exit from the operating system and restart the laptop. Be patient, as it may take some time if it has locked up. 3. Hold down the power button. If the operating system's answer to the rebooting will not work, find and hold down the power button of the laptop. This should cause the device to shut itself off. You'll have to press the power button again to power it back on, completing the reboot. 4. Unplug from the wall and remove the battery. If restarting via the operating system and the power button do not work, unplug the laptop from the wall outlet, and remove the battery from the laptop. This will cause it to power off immediately. 5. Allow time to reboot. Give the laptop time to cool down before you power it back on if you had to do this manually. A few seconds should do unless you have additional problems.
shut down unplug battery and charger hold power button for 5 to 10 seconds to drain all residual power plug battery and charger back in done....

If you hold it down until it turns off, yes it could mess up your laptop. BUT if you press it once and wait till it turns off, it will be fine
you hold down the power button for 10 secounds then hold both the power button and the turn volume down button
press and hold down the power button for 8-11 seconds until it turns off. if it is still frozen you might have to get it fixed.
It
Yes, it puts the laptop in a kind of sleep mode so that when you open the laptop back up (some laptops require for you to hit the power button) it will take a few seconds to resume and you basically start back where you left off.

To reboot your android hold down the power button until it asks you if you want to shut down your device, tap yes and your device will shut down, hold down the power button again and it should turn on. Note that some device may not have the yes or no option and will shut down just by holding down the power button. Also remember to HOLD DOWN the power button instead of just pressing it.
