Replace the flapper. If that doesn't work, try a Flusher Fixer Kit.
By taking shorter showers and not flushing the toilet
If the toilet is not running right, won't stop running, or not running at all, it could very well be the fill valve. This means that the valve will need to be replaced as soon as possible or the toilet will not work properly. If not replaced (or refitted), it could start to leak and end up costing one even more money in the long run.
adjust the floating bulb, it may be running over the top of the overflow pipe

either bend the arm of the float so it is partially submerged or adjust it with the screw that is attached to the float armature

You stop running by slowly slowing down the rate of your running. Or basically, you slow down until you stop.

Running came from when a man needed to go to the toilet and discorved he had legs !
If the toilet is running from the fill valve and it needs replacing, i usually charge $150. if it is the flapper that needs replacing i charge $99. These are usually the 2 places you fix a running toilet. I would say between $75-200 for the repair. I live in Los Angeles area
