Lincoln cents have their mintmark, if any, just below the date. All such cents minted in Denver would have a "D" mintmark - with one exception. In 1922, pennies were produced only in Denver, so all such coins should have a "D" mintmark. The pennies produced that year, however, were often weakly struck; furthermore, oil or other detrius filled the mintmark on the die from time to time, causing the the mintmark on the struck coin to get weaker, and at later stages to disappear entirely.
A mintmark is a small identification mark used to tell which mint it was made in.
If you have a Denver minted coin it will have the mintmark D. The location of the mintmark will depend on the date.
Simple, no quarters have ever been made in Delaware, the "D" mintmark means it was made in Denver.
All pennies from 1944 have the wheat ear reverse.
For the year 1853 most all Quarter Eagles were struck at the Philadelphia mint, so they have no mintmark. A few were made at the Denver mint and will have a "D" mintmark.
So many were made, 3 to 5 cents on average.
The Denver Mint peace dollar will have a "D" mint mark located on the reverse side, near the tail feathers of the eagle. The Philadelphia Mint peace dollar will not have a mint mark, as the Philadelphia Mint did not mark its coins with mint marks during that time period.
This goes for all pennies, the blank penny was created in Philedelphia and the penny with the D was created in Denver. If you want to know the material or type you should see "how do you tell the difference between 1982 pennies?"
The U.S. Mint does not use P mintmarks on one cent coins. A 1943 Lincoln cent without a mintmark was struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
You probably mean date. Series is used when identify paper money. The date is on the right side on the front.
If the coin shows lots of wear, scratches, and dirt it is circulated. If it is still shiny, with very few scratches it will probably be uncirculated.
