How can you tell when an object will float on water or any other liquid?

The density of an object determines whether it will float or sink in another substance. An object will float if it is less dense than the liquid it is placed in. also an object will sink if it is denser than the liquid it is placed in.

What makes one substance more or less dense then another substance?

What make's a substance more dense than another is the mass divided by the volume of the substance. The more mass it has per unit of volume the more dense the substance is. If that substance has more mass per unit of volume than another substance then it is more dense.

If something is more dense will it float in something less dense?

Yes.EDIT: Density is not the sole factor. While denser liquids proportionally outweigh less dense liquids thus earning themselves a lower position when in contact with with liquids of less density, chemical properties also come into play. Lets say we have a container of water, (1.0 g/L), and we add pure lemon juice, (approx 1.1 g/L). Instead of forming distinct layers, the lemon juice is diluted by the water. The molecules combine to form into a chemically inseparable solution due to solubility.Vegetable oil .91-.93 g/cm3 - Water 1.0 g/. Mix the two and the vegetable oil will float on top of the water, therefore, the LESS dense liquid will float on top, while the MORE dense liquid will sink to the bottom. If an object floats in water what can you tell about its density?

You can tell that it is less dense than water which has a density of 1 cc

Comparing the what of an object with that of a liquid will tell you whether or not the object will float in that liquid?

it is a liquid when its in the can but when its out it is a gas, it doe sfeel a bit like liquid but it isnt dense enough

How can you tell whether one glass of water has more thermal energy than another identical glass of water.?

How you can tell is the temperature between the two liquids. If one of the liquid's temperature is warmer than the other one, then that liquid has more thermal energy.

What is the densent form of water?

Liquid water is the most dense as it has the highest mass for a specified volume. The crystal structure of ice causes it to expand and loose density.A2. But if you wish to follow esoterica, then Triple Point in Wikipedia will tell you that above 10^9 Pascal a form of ice occurs that is denser than water.

How do you tell which one is the densest liquid if you pour three liquids into a beaker?

To identify a liquid that is most dense it would be at the bottom of a container because the the most dense sinks while the least dense float at the top. example. if your teacher gave you an experiment to do and she gave you olive oil, dish soap, and color water. and you put those liquid in a see through container the least dense is the alcohol because that has the least density in it, and the most dense is soap. so if you put a couple of liquids in a container the most dense will appear at the bottom while the least will be on top. hope this help:)

Does water become more or less dense after 3 level spoonfuls of salt were added How do you know?

denser, the buoyancy of objects is one way you can tell the water gets less dense.
