Their is a girl at my school. I was trying to be her friend then one day she said hi to me. We have been good friends ever since then. I they what to be your friend they will show it. If what to be their friend then you need to try to talk to them more.

Generally a person does not "want to be your friend" as such. It is more just that they will find you interesting and they want to be with you because they feel good around you. Hence they will probably hang out near you and talk to you and do stuff that you do. If the feeling is mutual you will both start to hover together and after a period of "bonding" you will think of each other as friends.
The bonding period can vary significantly between individuals. I new a girl who could meet someone and only like an hour later she would bring this person over and introduce them as "my best friend". On the other hand, me, I only have a couple of best friends and it takes me years to decide is someone is a "best friend".
