i own a repair shop and if it goes all the way out it wont start, or will start but not run for very long at all,and if it does go out while driving it will stall it out no matter where your at,but if it has done this there's a good chance it went out on it,you might want to check the fuse for it, but if its not getting any gas it probably went out,or the fuel filter may have stopped up on and there is one other possibility ,it may have a bad pump relay on it this will make the pump not run at all, good luck,i hope this help,s.and have a good Thanksgiving.
If the fuel pump is inoperative, the car will not start.
If this is a fuel-injected car, the pump is in the tank. I believe in 1987 they went from Carb to fuel-injected. If it is a carb, it is on the lower right side of the engine.
either your fuel pump is about to go out or you just have a noisy fuel pump but its because it is always pumping fuel when the car is running
sometimes your car wont start and you will be able to tell when you accelerate..your engine wont get as much gas.You can hear the pump when you turn the key if you dont hear the pump shooting fuel through the lines you have a bad pump.
you can take fuel filter out on driver side underneath car crank it over if no fuel comes out pump is bad it would be a good idea to change the fuel filter anyway.
If you're talking about a fuel pump, then yes, a failed fuel pump or fuel pump relay will keep a fuel-injected car from running.
When your fuel pump stops working so does your car you should hear a high pitch whine coming from the rear of vehicle when you turn the key to run
Check the fuel pump fuse and the fuel pump relay.
Bad fuel pump, blown fuel pump fuse, bad fuel pump relay, or clogged filter.
The relays along the firewall will make your car engine not to start. The fuel pump relay is what turns on the fuel pump when you start your car and powers it down when you shut off the ignition. The engine control module (ECM) uses the fuel pump relay to control when the fuel pump is on. The fuel pump relay supplies electricity to power up and power down the fuel pump. Once the points burn or the coil breaks, the incoming voltage to the fuel pump is blocked and your car engine cannot start. If engine takes a long time to crank up, it probably is due to a bad fuel pump relay. Another way you can tell the fuel pump relay is bad is when you don't hear the fuel pump run for a couple of second when you turn the key in the ignition forward to start the car.
When a car is misfiring it is most likely the spark plug or spark plug wires instead of a fuel pump.
The fuel pump on a 2000 Lincoln Town Car is replaced by lowering the fuel tank, disconnecting the fuel lines, and unbolting the fuel pump. It can then be lifted from the tank and a new pump installed.
