I was looking at the engine compartment drawings in the 2000 Ford Taurus
Owner Guide and I noticed for the 3.0 liter VULCAN , V6 engine the engine
oil fill cap was on the right side of the valve cover ( when standing at the
front of the vehicle ) not too far from the battery
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3.0 liter DURATEC , Dual Over Head Cam , V6 engine has the oil fill cap
on the left side of the valve cover near the engine oil dipstick
The Mercury Sable and the Ford Taurus will have DOC in printed on the engine if they are dual overhead cam engines. The symbol should be on the top of the engine.
You can look in a manual for this car, or Google it.
