Check the vehicle emissions label under the hood. If that is missing, write down your vin # and call your local GM parts department, if your truck was built after 1980 the engine ID is the 8th digit. This code changed over the years though (ie: 350 was R for several years then changed to a different letter)

Does the truck smoke? if it does you dont need a new motor all you need is new O rings and a piston rod

That All depends on the motor and rear-end and if it is a 4x4 and ext cab or not . It should tell you in the glove box.

there are at least 4 on it one on each side of the motor on the manifolds one before and after the cat convertor you have to take it to a shop and they can tell you which one is bad.
