To answer your question a banshee is a 2 stroke that takes premix and has a wicked powerband. A raptor is a 4 stroke and sounds like a lawn mower without a muffler. Also a banshee has a huge flat radiator in the front with 2 big round headlights one on each side. The exhaust has 2 expansion chambers one on each side.

Yamaha Banshee is no doubt the best quad for the dunes. A close second would be the Yamaha Raptor 660 or 700. The Raptor is a 4 stroke and will be better if you plan on doing trail riding as well. But if it is mostly dunes than nothing compares to the screaming 350 twin two stroke of the Banshee.

in stock form its a close match. usually the raptor will win if you race in the woods. if its in the open the banshee should win. however a banshee with porting and exaust will have about 70-75 hp. instead of 35-39. with big bore pistons and stroker cranks, from lonestar (cheetah cub) you can have up to 145-160hp! the stock hp of a raptor 700 is 45.7 you can bore those out too to an 800 max, or a 734 if you want to ride on trails, you will get about 80 from the 800 and 70-75 from the 734 with no other mods. you can also add a turbo that with the big bore you can get up to 160hp across the powerband. so they both have about the same potential but you will be able to ride the raptor through the woods ( as long as you can handle the power) but as for hte banshee, forget anything but dune riding...
