I think you mean axle shaft joint. A crunching noise, especially when turning corners suggests bad axle shaft joints.
I think you mean axle shaft joint. The usual symptom of a bad axle shaft joint is a crunching noise when turning corners.
A bad cv joint/axle shaft on the front will make a clicking noise when turning.
Bad inner CV joint?
remove diff cover, turn carrier till you see bolt that holds cross shaft in place, unscrew cross shaft bolt but don`t remove, slide bolt out untill shaft can be carefully slid out again not completely keep shaft in side gear but out enough to clear axle. from brake area push bad axle in untill c-clip is released. remove clip and retain, slide axle out of diff push shaft back in and push bolt back thru shaft to hold in place.
If the noise is a clicking sound, chances are the CV shaft (or axle shaft) is bad. It supplies power from the trans axle to the wheel.
Sounds like a bad axle seal. You'll have to remove the axle to replace it.
Sounds like a bad CV joint. On most cars, it is often more economical to replace the complete axle shaft on that side that has a bad cv joint. Hope this helps. Good-luck!
bad cv joint aka axle shaft
No you can't.
i work at a Chevy dealership and have seen this many times. 1 of ur frt drive axle shafts is bad. raise vehicle and u can usually grab axle shaft and move which 1 is bad
If your car is not turning correctly, you will be able to tell either your CV axle or your control arm is bad. It will cost about $600 to fix either one, with parts.
