well, if they are missing their legs, hide knives under their pillows, go for runs at 5 in the morning, and they appear as a child that has just got their lolly pop stolen, they are probrably depressed
When my daughter told me, she just came right out with it. She asked to talk, and she said she hadn't felt happy in a long time, that she knew her life was good and she had plenty to be happy about, but that as much as she tried, it just wasn't working. She said she thought it was more than just being moody, and that she was worn down from feeling that way. She asked if we could go talk to someone about it, and we did. I made an appointment that day.
It may not go exactly the same for you, but remember that your parents are there to help you. If you truly do have depression or anxiety, sometimes it is caused by things that are out of your control, like hormones (not all hormones are the attraction kind). When a person has serious depression, it is a lot like having Diabetes. It is just something they have. It is something they have to talk to the doctor and learn how to manage. It is not something "wrong" with them.
The doctor has been able to help my daughter a lot. It also makes it easier on our family knowing that she has this to deal with. Before we knew, we often wondered what was going on or what we might have done wrong. Now that we know, we know that a bad day is just that... a bad day. Instead of trying to work out what is going on, we just know that is a day she needs a little more support.
The doctor also told us that this is something that often passes in your late teens. Changes in the brain start leveling out, and sometimes depression and anxiety don't last.
I know it is hard, but going to your parents is a big step. It means you are putting your first foot forward to get help. Try not to be scared. Try to be hopeful. This is something that can get better.
Thinking you have an illness or problem, mental or physical, is a real worry that cannot be resolved by you without help. In the same way that a broken arm doesn't just go away without medical help, you should share your concerns with your parents to trusted adult. While parents may be deeply concerned about your fears this however does not make them experts. The best advice is to see a professional. If they are concerned they might want to offer to pay for you to visit a trained medical professional of your choice to discuss the matter.
If you want to go it on your own, determine if your region has a health hotline that you can call for advice on health issues. Call them as a start, and see what is available. Local hot lines may be identified though an internet search using search strings like "depression, hotline, (your location)." School counselors, drop in clinics, and such may also offer potential contacts or direction.
If you tried talking to them already, have your doctor prove it to them. By having a doctor talk to them, it is a good idea because they are the ones who diagnosed it in the first place, and if an authority says you have it, then your parents should believe it from your doctor.
All medications and vitamins could possible affect your health regardless of what the use is for. You should contact your doctor to discuss the concers you have with anxiety and depression medication.
One of the possible side effects of Adderall (an amphetamine) is anxiety. This should be taken into account by your physician when prescribing other drugs.
Working out is known to decrease stress levels and boost your endorphin numbers to your brain as well. Anxiety and depression is caused by high levels of mental stress, so exercising outdoors should help.
Depression and anxiety are very common and statistics of both are rising. Don't feel alone! It is difficult for some people who have not experienced depression (depression is considered a problem when someone is depressed constantly for more than two weeks) or anxiety issues (caused by the depression) to understand someone that is suffering from it. You will have to face yourself and realize that through no fault of your own you have depression and anxiety and in itself it is frightening for the person suffering from it and it narrows their lifestyle down more and more. Please see your doctor and he/she will give you some medications for both your depression and anxiety symptoms so that you will be able to get therapy (Cognitive Therapy) is a great program to help you through your depression and anxiety. Cognitive Therapy teaches you to look at the opposite of what you are feeling. You need to help yourself before your can expect your girlfriend to come back to you. If you require more help please leave a message on my message board.
If you suffer from social anxiety and depression and are feeling tired a lot you should speak with your doctor. Only a doctor can advise what is safe to take with your Effexor for tiredness.
If you are really scared you can phone your Granny or someone in your family and ask them if you can stay with them that night.
Well, tell her parents, your parents, or a councilor of some sort that she's Bulimic.
Coping with depression requires a multi-faceted approach. One type of treatment or therapy will not adequately manage depression symptoms, so patients should be encouraged to explore different options. Some coping methods include individual, group, or family therapy, where patients can be encouraged and can learn to identify and properly manage depression/anxiety triggers. Eating healthy and regular exercise can also be using as part of an effective coping plan for patients.
Get them a Counciler and let them disscuss their problems with you
Seeming Zoloft's side effects will vary from each person, zoloft may actually increase your heart rate when you first start taking it, although zoloft is for depression, anxiety may decrease when depression does, although if you are having anxiety attacks anti-anxiety medication such as Valium would be more appropriate, also if you want to slow your heart rate breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth is a common trick or doing meditation and looking at what is causing the anxiety and alleviating that problem as well as using medication should help anxiety because zoloft is not specifically for anxiety although may still help.
