yeah. their is a PC program that was designed for security web cam purposes but people have used it now for turning on any web cam they want, the bad thing is that especially laptop don't have lights when they are on, someone could be watching you now.... it take about 10mins to turn them on/off... it does not even give you the ip address of which PC turned it on.
You have to signup for a webcam site and it's usually pretty straight forward, you create a profile, turn on your webcam and you are live in front of millions of people from your bedroom.

It only costs money to view someone's webcam on random websites that are promiscuous. If you are webcamming with a friend it should be free.
You can turn on the built in Webcam, for a Mercer laptop computer by going to the program menu. In the program menu click on YouCam. Open the YouCam program and the Webcam will turn on.

Built in webcam can be used by camera applications. Camera applications create intent for Webcam in it.
Most HP model laptops are packed with 'HP Webcam' software. If it is not installed please check with your manafacturer's website at: www.hp.com/support/
As long as the drivers are installed any program that needs the webcam or can support a webcam will use it automatically
Of course you can , you install the new webcam , and you choose from device manager the new installed webcam to be your primary.
You will need to visit the HP website. There you can put in the specifications of your computer to get an accurate assessment of how to turn on the webcam.
The manual does not describe any way to use the camera as a webcam.
