I have a 1997 Chevy cavelier and it say's ets off check engine I'm curious to what would cause this problem and how do you fix it.
ETS is connected to your ABS. ETS is a traction control and is linked to your ABS so to get your ETS light off you'll probably have to fix your ABS to get the light off. On mine, fixing a broken wire on my ABS plug which runs into the hub fixed my problem.
ok. see the button with the wheels on it near the dimmer switch. It says ETS on it. push and it will light up.
It wont turn off. It stays on just to let you know that your car isn't losing traction.
Normally the (Electronic Traction Control) ETS light is on when the ETS is turned off. Make sure the ETS is on and not off when driving at all times winter or summer.
When there is a failure that sets the check engine light, the vehicle responds by going into a limp mode. This means traction control and ETS are automatically turned off for safety and to prevent further problems with the vehicle.
Probably because you have the ETS turned off.
if it has ets its a thumb switch on the shifter if it is displayed on the cluster its off if not it's on or not equiped
It is supposed to. ETS (Enhanced Traction System) is turned on and off with that switch. Leave it on. The system is on and working when the light is off.It is supposed to. ETS means ENHANCED TRACTION SYSTEM. You need to have the ECU scanned and see what codes come up. With these codes an expert can diagnose the cause of the problem.
In some cases you can disconnect the plug on the ebrake switch. I was able to access it by pulling back on the ebrake side cover.
It means the electronic traction control system is off. The button to turn it on should be on the side of the shifter. It is to help you from spinning your tires.
