Easy Setup:
Connect 2 Computers Directly Using Crossover Cable
http://www.home-network-help.com/crossover.HTML
you will need a crossover cable to do this. pairs are switched allowing communication to occur without a hub or router
TAKE THE CAT5E CABLE AND TWO JACKS.YOU WILL FIND 4 PAIRS OF WIRES. LIKE OW-O,BLUEW-BLUE,GREENW-GREEN,BROWNW-BROWN. IN THIS THERE ONLY FOUR WIRES ARE NEEDED. supoose you have crimped one side like this ow-o-gw-g-blw-bl-brw-br.then other end will be gw-bl-ow-bl-o-brw-br.
ow-orange white o-orange blw-blue white bl-blue grw-green white gr-green brw-brown white br-brown COLUR CODE : 1----3 2----6 3----1 4----4 5----5 6----2 7----7 8----8

A NIC will have the crossover setting in the device driver
It depends. If you are making a normal patch cable, you're supposed to crimp both sides the same: 12345678 to 12345678. But if you're making a crossover cable you switch 1 & 3 and 2 & 6 on one side. So you'd have 12345678 one one side and 36145278 on the other.
Lets say you have 1 outlet but you want to connect yout xbox and your ps3 to the same outlet and not have to switch them out. You will need 2 cat5 cables you will need a wired routuer (you can find one at your local staples or office max) and 3 cat5 cables (for 2 devices needing internet). Whatever amount of devices you have you need 1 more cat5 cable. This is a scetch I drew up:
All the words (router) is just 1 router and all dashes are a cat5 cable
Router---5-----(anything)
Router---4-----------PS3
(cable 1)------Router---3-------------------(anything)
Router-------2-------xbox
Router----6----(anything)
Cable 1 comes from wall socket, goes into netgear router, and you can connect any Ethernet capable device from there.
You can only connect 2 computers together, using a crossover cable. If you want to connect more than 2 computers together, then you will need a wireless router, switch, or hub.
There are many ways one can wire a Cat-5 cable. One can wire a Cat-5 cable by untwisting the pair of cords, aligning the colored wires, and cutting the cord to the right length.

1. Dial-up - You use a dial-up modem in your computer to connect to the internet over a phone line. 2. Ethernet - You connect to a cable / DSL modem with an Ethernet cable, either directly to the modem or through a router. 3. Wi-fi - You connect to a cable / DSL modem with a wireless card to a router, which is connected to the modem. 4. USB - you connect to a cable / DSL modem directly with a USB cable. 5. 3G - A form of wireless internet that communicates using cellphone towers.
If the instructions say that if you are using a modem you may need to manually connect to the Internet. What this means is that you might have to connect one end of an Ethernet cable into the modem and the other end into the back of your device.
Link aggregation or IEEE 802.1AX-2008 is a computer networking term which describes using multiple network cables/ports in parallel to increase the link speed beyond the limits of any one single cable or port, and to increase the redundancy for higher availability.
a usb cable is a cable that allows the computer to communicate with the object u are connecting it to. For example there is a computer powered fan which is connected to a computer using an usb cable
Using a USB cable.

Your best bet is to buy an HDTV (if you haven't already) and then buy an HDMI cable, and also a component cable hookup for you in able to connect your Wii using the HDMI cable. Otherwise, USB cable won't do.

A hub or switch must be used to connect 3 PCs together. Two PCs can be connected using a single crossover cable.
You can connect an E1000 to a PC using the USB cable.

If you are using a crossover cable, simply assign static IP's to each machine (192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3). If using regular network cable, you will need to use a network switch or hub to connect them together, still using the static IP's for each machine.
You connect each computer to a switch, using a UTP cable. Some small switches only have 8 ports; you can connect two such switches to each other, with an additional cable.
