Carbon monoxide gas is the main pollutant in a combustion engine.
Carbon and Oxygen. The gas is carbon-monoxide.
Main gas is CO2. Gases like SO2 also can be produced
carbon monoxide
Driving doesn't directly produce it - the chemical reaction of fuel undergoing combustion in the motor is what produces it. The principle carbon emission from cars is carbon dioxide. There is some carbon monoxide in the direct engine exhaust if the engine does not have the right air/fuel mixture. This is usually removed by proper operation (since 1975) of the catalytic converter.
It depends on the factory. One that doesn't have to heat the product being produced (like a manufactured-home factory) produces less air pollution than motor vehicles. A factory that uses coal to make steam will produce more.
If factories and motor vehicles did NOT burn fossil fuels and produce carbon dioxide, then they must be using clean, green, renewable energy. Greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere would probably be reducing, and we would be stopping global warming. The air would be cleaner too. People would be healthier, and there would be fewer cases of lung disease.
It depends how much traffic is about. Carbon monoxide is not a naturally-occurring molecule, & is only produced by engines; once it gets into the atmosphere, the carbon satisfies its valency by pairing up with any stray atoms it can find, preferably oxygen.
The ability to mass-produce motor vehicles. He invented the assembly line :)

carbon monoxide is already toxic the way it is made by the car.nitrogen oxides react with water vapor in the air and sunlight to make nitric acid!unburned hydrocarbons react with sunlight to produce the haze of smog.
The burning of fossil fuels emits a flurry of gases into the air while an automobile is running. There are actually three gases scientists point to when talking about the gaseous makeup of automobile emissions. These are: hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxides.carbon dioxide and carbon monoxideGases like co2 and vapour comes out.carbon monoxide
