He was in the 18th century because his time vortex manipulater malfuntioned and sent him there so he had to wait until the 21st century to find the doctor again (so he was there then)
The simple answer is that Jack never visited the parallel Earth so he never passed through the void. Only the Doctor, Rose and Mickey (and the TARDIS) passed through the void from this side.
So the real question should be, why didn't the TARDIS get pulled into the void. --- to heavy :)
But didn't he get back to earth between then coz' how come he is in Torchwood now when he hasn't seen the doctor in 5,000 years?
This is a different person: Jack was actually born in the 51st century. he was born in Boeshane Peninsula
Only four people know how to do that- The Doctor himself, his evil opposite number The Master (the only known other surviving Time Lord to date), Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood, and The Doctor's daughter River Song. His companions know how to work some of it, but fall way short of being able to pilot it themselves. The TARDIS is also itself a sentient machine with organic origins, and can to some extent think for and fly itself.
It is a type 49 TARDIS.
The tardis dose explode in the big bang......... :(
Heart of TARDIS was created in 2000.
TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.
