About three months ago, I put the digital copy version of "Up" onto my computer. I had trouble playing it on the computer itself (there was only a black screen when I clicked on it). However, when I put it on my iPod Touch, it played on the iPod. But that's not the question for now. I had been able to play it on my iPod for quite a while. Then, yesterday, I downloaded the new version of iTunes (iTunes 10). When I tried syncing my iPod to the computer, it suddenly said that movie wouldn't sync because it wasn't authorized to the computer (which it actually was). When it prompted me to authorize the computer, I did, and it seemed to had successfully authorized, though it still was showing the blank screen as always. I tried syncing the iPod again, and I had the exact same problem! The cycle repeats over and over again. I would appreciate any suggestions.
it might be dead.

No. iPod Touch out of the box has nothing on it. No music, video, pictures, or games. However, there are tons of free and payed games in the itunes Store to choose from and it wont take you long to be gaming away!
The iPod is notorious for a limited battery life. You may need a new iPod.

No. There is no 3rd generation iPod Touch 8GB. The second generation iPod Touch 8GB was sold along side the 3rd generation iPod Tough 16GB and 32GB. --- No, you cannot play Infinity Blade on a 3G iPod Touch 8GB. The above is a lie though, there is a 3rd Generation 8GB iPod Touch, which is the repackaged iPod Touch 2G, with improved system software. --- im playing it on a 2g just fine dont see why u cant on a 3g, just because website says it wont?
try charging it or connecting it to itune
