a mechanic charges for repairs according to a list put out by the automotive industry. this list gives an hourly time that the auto industry think is appropriate to do that repair. this is then charged by the hour,plus parts,plus incidentals such as paying for oil disposal etc.mind you mechanic shops have the oil picked by recyclers at no cost to themselves so this is another rip off. so by the book plus parts and shop extras you get ripped off. the book may say 3 hours,and only take the mechanic 30 minutes.but most shops are going to charge the 3 hours
