This question can't be answered as there are too many possibilities. I would suggest a complete tune up and if that doesn't fix it, then take the car to a qualified, reputable repair facility. It could be anything from a clogged injector to a vacuum leak to things much more severe. Good Luck.
The dodge neon has an optimum idle speed like any other car. The Dodge Neon's optimum idle speed at rest is between 12.9% and 13.3%.
Idle speed on a Dodge Neon is not adjustable. Idle is computer controlled with an airflow control motor on the throttle body.
it is not adjustable, controlled by the computer
The correct idle speed is 1RPM x4.2-7.888
Due to the electronic fuel injection system in the 1997 Dodge Neon it is not possible to lower the idle speed. The engine control system computer adjusts the speed automatically.
500-1200 The computer will decide.
Idle speed is controled by the computer. Unless there is a screw on the throttle body it is not adjustable.
check to see if water pump is failing this will throw the timing off and will only get worse eventually the belt will snap and bend the valves in the motor and then its very costly to repair
It is on the base of the throttle body.
you need a major tuenup, plugs etc
A bad idle control module will make it race up to about 3000 r.p.m. when in park.
