Technically, we are still in "Bible times." But the short answer is: "People don't live as long today as they did in the first generations of man, because of 'sin'... selfish disobedience, transgressing the laws of God [spiritual and physical]."
The longer explanation is:
As is God's way... He made the first people, Adam and Eve, physically perfect, with bodies that were designed to live a long, long time. And they did at first... nearly a thousand years each... barring accidents and murders.
It took time, through centuries of the regeneration of the species, through generations of abuse of the human body [dietary and physical] for the effects of sin to manifest itself in shortened lifespans, inherited diseases and birth defects, etc.
There is the pollution of the air he breathes and the earth that was made to sustain him.
Also, through man's technological advances, for which he praises and honors himself... and too much of which has surpassed his ability to control - he also created for himself a faster-paced and more stressful and distressful world, that takes its own toll on longevity.
Not to mention, the "spiritual deterioration" of man's separation from his Creator through his disobedience to His laws; as well as certain "demonic effects" perpetrated by the "spirit realm" of which most of mankind remains virtually ignorant.
"...for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph.6:12 NIV)
The earth is winding down... and so is man. Prophecy reveals that man will cease to exist altogether if his Creator doesn't intervene when the time is right.
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened." (Matt.24:22 NIV)
That's when man's longevity will reach critical mass. That's when he will see his Creator... see the errors of his ways... and see Eternal Life offered as an option.
"...ye shall know that I am the Lord... and there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. And ye shall know that I am the Lord when I have wrought with you for My name's sake, not according to your wicked ways. nor according to your corrupt doings..." (Ezek.20:42-44).
"...Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways... In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. And the desolate land shall be tilled...And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the Garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are becomed fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it." (Ezek.36:32-36)
Today, man's miracles of medicine, offer longevity to his shortened lifespan beyond what it might otherwise be for some. This is too often just a longer "existence" rather than "life," however... and the short answer still stands.
Sin, is why man's longevity has decreased.
But as it took time to happen... in time, man's Creator will remove the cause and restore man's life for all Eternity.
