A badly written question only leads to bad answers. A good question properly written leads to better answers.
Answers.com is neither bad nor good at answering questions, it is down to the contributors. Good thing about this is that anyone can write anything. Bad thing about this is that anyone can write anything. There are some bad answers mainly because the contributors cannot check every answer since we a such a large community with an exponentially increasing number of question.
Anything you don't know and want to, and anything you're curious about, and anything you don't understand and want to, are all good questions.

Anything that you have survived is a good survival story. If you want to write a general story about wilderness survival, anything you are willing to research enough to write will be a good story. You have to be interested enough in something to come up with your own ideas, otherwise it's not going to be a good story.
Come up with a good idea, have a setting and characters. Then, write it.

Ask very casual questions, like "How are you?" and such. Not anything that is relevant to their personal life.
Anything unexpected is called a "plot twist." It can be something tiny, like thinking it will rain but it doesn't, or something big, like thinking a character is dead but they aren't. You must come up with your own plot twists! If you write what some anonymous person on the internet thinks is interesting, your story will be awful.
