You must pass the quiz to get into a main WikiReviewers division. However, if you do not pass, you are not just turned away. There is a sub group called the Copy Assistants, which does not require a test. The Copy Assistants take on different types of projects. They still do a lot to contribute and improve the quality of the site. If a Copy Assistant has taken on projects for a few months, and feels they are ready, they qualify to retake the test.

Copy Editors work on spelling and grammar across the site. They also clarify answers and balance out one-sided or skewed statements. To join, prospective members take a quiz on spelling and grammar and must be at least 13 years of age. "Member" can function as both a noun, referring to a person who is a part of a group or organization, and as a verb, meaning to join or take part in a group or organization.
Most of the subgroups in the WikiReviewers, including the Copy Editors, require a test to join. They are the members that have proven that they have exceptional writing and grammar skills. They are given assignments that require skilled writing abilities. This can be anything from the cleanup of answers with poor spelling to balancing out one-sided answers. Copy Assistants are the only group in the WikiReviewers that do not require a test to join. It could be that the person did not pass the test, were not confident in trying it, didn't want to take it, or they just wanted to brush up on the spelling or grammar skills. There could be any number of reasons. The Copy Assistants are given less involved assignments. They usually involve tasks such as fixing the spelling of an assigned word in questions across the site. Even thought the assignments are less involved, they still share the goal of increasing quality on the site. If they choose to test later, they can move into one of the other groups and take on bigger assignments.
It really depends on how busy it has been. The leader of the WikiReviewers program, Robin, will try to get back to people within a couple of days, but sometimes it takes a little longer. She will get to all applications and tests, but if it is taking a while, feel free to message or email her. She will be more than happy to let you know where things are.
A Copy Assistant, in the WikiReviewers program, is a user on the site that would like to brush up on their spelling and grammar skills. They do smaller tasks, such as spelling replacement. Although they are smaller tasks, they are still a big help to the site. It is not required that you take the test to get into the Copy Assistants, but the project types are more limited.
