No. But iTunes cannot run if Quicktime Player is not installed on your computer. (QuickTime has certain functions that iTunes needs in order to be used)

Try installing quicktime as a standalone application. The procedure for doing so is as follows: 1. Go to Apple website and download quicktime as a standalone application i.e. without iTunes. Select [QuickTime 7.5.5 for Windows XP or Vista] instead of [ QuickTime 7.5.5 with iTunes for Windows XP or Vista] 2. Run the downloaded quicktime installer. 3. Select [Remove] option first. 4. After complete removal of quicktime, run the quicktime installer again and install quicktime. Your iTunes should now work fine.
