Side effects of a 17 year old taking Strattera?

There can be many different side effects that a 17 year old may experience when taking Strattera. Some of these are depression, suicidal thoughts, stomach upset, mood swings, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.

Do mood changes caused by Strattera diminish or disappear over time?

: You should not be experiencing these sorts of effects while taking Strattera. This is what is mentioned on the Black Box Warning for Strattera, including other changes in behavior such as irratibility and suicidal thoughts especially in children. But either way it is clear that you need to contact your doctor and you should dicontinue use of Strattera.

What will happen with 100mg of Strattera?

Answer: Strattera is not at all harmful at 100mg. Basically if you can handle or avoid the side effects the result of taking 100 mg would be increased alertness, and better attention span. It really helps you concentrate. However, Strattera has a black box warning about the potential of suicidal thoughts in children. So keep this in mind, and I would not recommend taking Strattera at all if you have any form of depression, anxiety, or any form of bipolar or psychosis. And you should stop taking Strattera immediately if you start to have thoughts of suicide or sudden changes in behavior such as agitation or irratibility. Ultimately you should talk to your doctor to determine if 100mg is necessary for your individual treatment. hope this helps***

Does Strattera slow you down while adjusting or does it mean that it just is not for the patient taking it?

Definately. When I was first put on Strattera, I noticed a huge difference in my energy level. I was fatigued and felt like I had no energy to do tough tasks. Don't worry though, after about a month, I quit experiencing this fatigue and was back to normal. I have been taking Strattera for 6 months now and for some time now have had no side effects from Strattera.

What are the side effects after going off of Strattera?

My 11 year old daughter had been taking Strattera for a little more than 3 years. About 5 weeks ago she decided on her own, without discussing it with her father and I, to stop cold turkey taking her meds. She was taking 60mg of Strattera and a melatonin every night before bed. She was taking it at night because of the stomach aches. they were just to much to handle during the morning at school. After a few weeks of not taking the meds she confided in my Mother that she was not taking the Strattera anymore. I couldn't really tell any major differences. The only big difference was her insatiable appetite In the about 5 or 6 weeks she has been off the Strattera(taking it for ADHD) she has gained 10lbs. She says she is now sleeping through the night. Falling asleep quite easily too. It used to take her more than an hour even with the Melatonin.

Can a child taking lithium for bipolar take Strattera for add?

Answer: If your child has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder they shouldn't take Strattera; ultimately this is your decision to make with your child's doctor. But keep in mind there is a Black Box Warning about Strattera: It states that you shouldn't take it if you have bipolar disorder or have symptoms such as psychosis or mania. It also says that you should stop taking Straterra if you notice your child has sudden changes in behavior such as irratibility and suicidal thoughts. Because of the way they(the FDA) put it in this warning I wouldn't say that taking both of those is completely harmless. hope this helps*****

Can Enzyte be taken with Strattera?

I do not know specifically about Enzyte, but I currently take a small dose (2.5 mg) of Cialis concurrently with my 80 mg daily dose of Strattera. This was prescribed by my doctor to help fight the sexual side effects of Strattera. There have been no negative interactions that I can tell and the Strattera sexual side effects have pretty much been eliminated. If you are taking Enzyte to combat sexual side effects of Strattera, I would suggest talking to your doctor or at the very least the pharmacist to find out if there are any possible interactions. As far as I know, Enzyte is completely herbal (and from what I've heard... a placebo), so it probably won't have any interactions, but it is better to be safe than sorry!

Has the use of Straterra for bipolar disorder been investigated?

My brother has a pretty severe case of bipolar, he started taking strattera and it really didn't have bad effects on him, when he started taking Prozac with it, he had an emotional break down and attempted to stab himself with a pretty thick knife and the blade broke on his chest, he's now in a mental hospital for 3 months I recommend not taking strattera with a bipolar person or depressed person unless it's monitered because my brother isn't the only person I know of who had terrible effects.

Do the side effects of Strattera go away over time or will whatever side effects that are present after 3 weeks be permanent as long as the drug is taken?

: Depending on the side effects you are experiencing from Strattera, some may reoccur each time you take the drug, while other may subside with time. I took Strattera for 6 weeks, and my heartburn did not go away so I stopped taking it. Strattera seems like one of those drugs where the side effects actually do occur and some are more extreme than the others. Im going to say that for the most part the side effects will most likely not go away. But for example if you get headaches, you could take some kind of aspirin, or Tylenol. (if your doctor approves) or maybe you just get used to it and it doesnt bother you, but from what I've seen the side effects are reoccuring and vicious. hope this helps*************
