Being kicked out is not a reason to emancipate a 16yo. You have to have your own place to live, a job, handle school and pay your bills. That is only a few of the requirements. It also depends on which state you are in since early emancipation is not available in all states. most likely will you be put in a foster home and your parents pay child support to the state. They broke the law and it's child abandonment to kick their minor out. Ask a social worker in your state.

If your parents kicked you out of the house and you have another house to live at and be supported until your 18 and have a job can you get you get emancipated to get your license?

No you can not. You will need parental consent in getting that license. Your parents will have to sign off on the paperwork. Driving is a privilege not a right. Check with the laws in the state that you are from and good luck.

Can a seventeen year old move in with her older sister in Georgia without parental consent?

Yes, Georgia is a very unique state; you cannot be kicked out until the age of majority, which is 18, but a child can leave home at age 17, and the authorities cannot force the child to return.

Can you leave home at 17 without parental consent in Georgia?

A parent is responsible (as in a lawsuit) for the child's actions unless he/she becomes emancipated, joins the military, or gets married (requiring parental consent in Georgia if under 18). Yes, the age of majority is 18; however, a child can leave at 17. A parent cannnot force them to stay. But they cannot be kicked out until age 18. Call the police and ask. The police do have jurisdiction in this matter, because the child can be charged as a runaway and sent to juvenile detention if just 16 (or less). In Georgia, if the child is 17, the police will not do anything, and the child may leave without consent. But ther parents cannot kick the child out until age 18. Absolutely, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If a police officer says no, ask to speak to his/her immediate supervisor. In Georgia, a person can now go to jail at age seventeen. That created a unique twist in the law. Parents are responsible for a child until age 18, so they will still be responsible for the child's actions; however, they cannnot force the child to stay should the child wish to leave. Parents also cannot kick the child out until age 18.

If you are kicked out a t 16 are you emancipated?

Not in the eyes of the law. Your parents are still responsible for you and your actions.

How can you make your guardian not your guardian anymore?

Mother kicked out 17 year old daughter and pregnant?

So what's the question? Is this legal? No until the daughter turns 18 years of age, this is not legal to do, without consent from your local government.

In ga can your legally move out on your own at 17?

Yes, you can. In Georgia, you cannot be kicked out until 18, but you can leave at 17 and the police cannot force you to return. Be aware that you cannot legally sign a Lease until the age of majority (18).

Can you get emancipated if your 17 in Georgia and how would you go about doing it?

Out of all the requests for emancipation, very few are granted. You have to prove severe abuse. If you are a female, getting pregnant will emancipate you. So will getting married (with parental consent). If you are just wanting to leave home, in Georgia you can leave at 17, and you cannot be forced to return. This is because you can now go to prison in Georgia at age 17. But you cannot be kicked out by your parents until age 18. Be aware that you can't legally sign a Lease or other Contract until age 18.

Is being 'kicked out' the same as having parental consent to leave?

If parents kicked you out, then they sure consented to you not being there. No, and unless the child is of the age of majority it is illegal for parents to take such action without providing a suitable place for the minor to live and financial support. In the US parents are legally and financially responsible for their minor children until they reach the state's legal age of majority or a court rules otherwise. However, if parents have "kicked out" their child and the child has found another place to live which is safe and not illegal (for example, if a friend or relative has taken the child in and is caring for him or her in a responsible way) then it's unlikely that the parents, the police, or a court would intervene.

Can a pregnant 17-yrar-old in Georgia leave home without parental concent?

Yes, pregnant or not, you can leave home at 17 in Georgia, because by law you can go to jail at 17, so if you leave home, you can't be forced to return. In contrast, you cannot be forced to leave until 18. ***** No, they cannot. A 17-year-old in GA (and probably every state) can be charged as an adult if they commit a crime, but that has nothing to do with the age of majority. A 17-year-old is still a minor. They gain the rights of an adult at 18. Until 18, they are subject to the control and authority of their parents (so their parents get to decide where they live) UNLESS they have been legally emancipated in some manner such as marriage (which requires parental consent) or court decree (which is rarely granted). Pregnancy does NOT emancipate a minor. ***** Not true! Yes, you are not an adult until 18; however, in Georgia, you can leave home at age 17. You cannot be kicked out until age 18, but you can leave at 17, and no one will force you to return. Call the police and ask them. Or better yet, call DEFACS. ***** I'm not wrong. You're giving people inaccurate legal answers. I'm not basing my answer on what someone told me, I'm basing my answer on the actual law. If the police refuse to do their job and bring the runaway home, it is a very easy matter for the parents to get a court order requiring them to do their job.
