Start off with small changes:

Keep your favorite sweets/salty/cheesy etc favorites, but limit to half of what you were normally eating. Then, gradually to a few times a week. NEVER deprive yourself of something you love, because it could lead to binge eating later. It is better to have what you want, IN MODERATION and then work it off soon after. It's a win-win.

Next instead of staying home get out with a friend and enjoy the upcomming spring weather. Even when it's cold, go for a walk along a beach, park, go shopping, swimming, bike riding, hiking camping... the list goes on. Make a change to minimize tv/computer/sedentary time with active time. (This doesn't even have to be gym time). When you do want to kick back. During commercials do small excercises. For example; 20 jumping jacks 20 push ups and run in place. Reapeat until your show's back on. You may even want to get a stationary bike/ tread mill or bow flex ect so you can use it while you watch. But equipment is NOT necessary to be active. ( situps, jumprope etc can all be done)

Finally start eating 4-5 smaller meals. Small breakfast, fruit/veggie snack with protein (i.e. peanutbutter, tofu, tempe, grilled skinless and lean chicken or turkey breast) Small lunch with an included side salad/fruit and protein, optional snack, light Dinner again with veggies/fruit and a small snack once more. The most import thing to remember is to eat SLOWLY. Many of us have gotten used to scarfing food, barely have those hour long health family meals we used to. So take time to enjoy your food, and as they say never force yourself to finish the plate. When you're comfortably full, not overstuffed or too full, stop, bag the leftovers and save for a quick snack or the next days lunch. Get as much water as possible (depending on body type ect can be 8-10 glasses) and limit the sugary beverages unless you haven't had that many caloriies throught the day. (always limit these drinks to 1/2 can (or serving) no more than once or twice a week)

Stick to these important steps and you should loose on average 2-5 lbs a week. Just listen to your body, keep that metabolizm up with water and activities, enjoy your food by eating slowly and stoping when you feel full, not over stuffed, and making small changes like taking the stairs when possible to increase activities.

All this WITHOUT giving up your favorite foods, crazy calorie counting/fad diets or even heading to the gym!
