They may have been able to prevent the Pacific War of World War 2. If they had lifted the oil embargo it could be the Japanese Military may have chosen to stop the invasion of other nations but that is still questionable. The Japanese did have their minds set on becoming "world ruler" of the Asian territories.
Never in a million years could the US have stopped the war in Europe unless they would have killed him in World War 1 or before WW2.
Probably. The harsh terms imposed on Germany after WWI helped create the conditions which allowed someone like Hitler to rise to power. Hitler began openly violating the terms of the Versailles Treaty in 1935, by remilitarizing the Rhineland, beginning to build an air force, and France and Britain did absolutely nothing. Had Hitler been brought to heel at that time, the course of events might have been radically changed. Hitler had risen to power in part by continually denouncing the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and promising to reverse it; had he been unable to do so, he might have been swept from power and a sane government returned to Germany. Since he got away with it, Hitler was emboldened to take step after step down the path to war. He had written fairly clearly of his objectives in his book in the early 20s, but nobody could stand to read the stinking piece of crap. But his plans were in there.
Japan had been in the hands of the militarists since 1925. They were bent on dominating Asia, come hell or high water. It probably would have been harder to avert war with Japan than with Germany. But, during the war Japan absorbed only 15% of the US war effort, while 85% went toward defeating "Germany first". Japan would have been much easier to handle if war with Germany was not simultaneous.
Im pretty sure they wanted to stay out of the war until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor then that's when they became involved.

I am not sure what you want to know. One can never really go back in time and the world and the US could never really be what it was before the war, but Harding tried and many things went back to what they had been. There was not much one could do about the disruption to the economy that the war caused and maybe you are thinking about the world-wide depression that followed the war. Maybe you are thinking of prohibition which changed American life for a while when Harding took office.
