there is a big difference between them as syrian hamsters are bigger than dwarf hamsters. There is quite a lot of different types of dwarf hamsters such as, Russian winter whites, Chinese, campbells, rovoroski and maybe more. But most dwarf hamsters can live with 1 or more of the same sex and syrians have to live alone - so if your hamster lives alone then its probably a syrian. aslo syrians are about half the size of a guineapig and dwarf hamsters are about half the size of a syrian hamster.

∙ 14y agoRussian Dwarf hamsters have a very distinctive dark stripe on their backs, running down their spines. Roborovski hamsters do not have this.

Well, if you want to know which one makes a better pet, definitely a dwarf. Teddybear hammies can get stuck in tubes easily and when they bite it hurts ALOT! More than a dwarfs bite. If you wanna know which of the dwarfs are best, Russian or roborovski. Preferably Russian if you are a first time hamster owner.

Get a female hamster as they look white and cute and the first thing that they are a lot more active than the male russians. They often climb on the treadmill and they keep themselves fit. Also they are less aggressive.

They are good hamsters. If your talking about the roborovski hamsters they are fast!Some of those hamsters are all white. I have one and you'll know how great climbers they are!! winter white hamsters are cute and they love being in the cold place :) Edit by standarddeviation: Winter white hamster are NOT roborovski hamster though both are consider dwarf hamster. They are of complete different species. Winter White hamster looks like a much smaller version of the typical syrian Hamster. They are however also different from the quite alike "Campbell Dwarf", in size and looks however again they are also considered different, though hybrid between the 2 species is possible. They are like a common pet in various part of the world, though consider "rodent". Though consider rodent like mice and rats, they are treated much better as a house pet due to their nice looking fur colour and usually not as a pest except in some part of Russia. Hamster live better alone . Some hamsters even get in to fights with other Hamsters . It's not like they will get bore just play with them sometimes and put them in their hamster ball and they'll be fine . :p
