In order to convert ppm to pH, one must first understand that 1 ppm is equivalent to 1mg/L. For example, if one wanted to convert 20mg/L into a pH one would use the equation 0.02g/36.45g/mole which is equal to a pH of 3.2.

That math doesn’t work. Plz explain. Where does 36.45 g/mole come from. Is it a constant?

How much muriatic acid to lower pH of a gallon of water 1ppm?

1 ppm HCl in aqueous solution would have a pH of around 6.

How much muriatic acid is needed to lower PH?

It depends on the pH level in the pool and the gallons of the pools, also how many ppm you want to lower it.

How do you covert from 5 ppm to percent?

ppm means 1/1,000,000; percent means 1/100. Therefore, every percent is equal to 10,000 ppm. To convert from ppm to percent, you divide by 10,000.ppm means 1/1,000,000; percent means 1/100. Do you adjust the PH first or the alkalinity first in a swimming pool?

Alkalinity first! First check to see where the total alkalinity is in PPM, then determine how many PPM change is needed to reach your target reading. Caution, I alway aim for 10 to 20 PPM below my ideal reading, because when you begin to adjust the pH, the TA will rise.

How do you find what the ppm is of a 24-foot round pool?

There are ppm's to chlorine, pH, alkalinity, water hardness, copper etc., etc, etc, etc. Rethink and ask in a different format.

What do you use to maintain pH in pools?

You lower pH by adding acid The above answer is not specifically answering the question. Neutralizing the pH depends on what your readings are. A high pH would be brought lower by adding muriatic acid. A low pH would require soda ash. Neutral pH would be about 7 ppm. A well balanced pH would be 7.4 to 7.6 ppm.

I have high pH levels in my above ground pool how do I correct this?

Add small amounts of muriatic acid until your test kit indicates that the pH is coming into the range required which is 7.6 -7.8 ppm.
