The pilot bushing holds the input shaft. A worn bushing will allow the shaft to wobble and wear out the front gear box seal. Leaking gear oil into the clutch bell housing. The result will be a clutch that at first smells bad and eventually the clutch will slip and not work or at worst case cause a fire. Answer could be very dangerous.
the pilot bushing is part of the electrical connector on the side of the transmission, Mercedes refers to is as the pilot bushing, don't know why? its not even really a bushing, its a plastic connector with 2 o-ring seals. These leak all the time! Cheap fix though, just need to have it replaced
The pilot bushing is installed into the rear of the crankshaft. The pilot bushing supports the input shaft of the transmission.
Its has a bushing and should be replaced everything the clutch is being replaced, as a set!
Try grease and a gage pin of close fit to the bushing. Simply apply a large amount of grease to the ID of the bushing. Insert gage pin and hammer.
there is no such thing. the pilot bushing is in the back of the crankshaft and should be replaced when doing a clutch job
That usually refers to the part of a standard transmission that inserts into the crankshaft pilot bearing or bushing.
there is no pilot bushing/bearing for the Geo Storms '90-'93 manual transaxle.
Mercedes Simon was inspired by Gail Halvorsen to become a pilot. Gail was nicknamed the chocolate pilot who touched the lives of many children.
Don't bother, neither the manual or automatic use it
go to harbor freight and get a bushing/pilot tool for about $30, works wonders , I'm a mechanic
