In the grand canyon, the colorado river can reach 2700 ft to 3000 ft deep due to the grand canyon elevation. At hoover dam or nevada, the river starts to get shallower reaching depths of 80 ft to 140 ft deep.
Maximum depth found near Black Rocks area, about 6.4 km upstream from the Colorado-Utah state line.
"Black Rocks is substantially deeper than other parts of the Colorado River, with an
average depth of about 5 m and maximum depth of about 18 m"
over 900 yards deep.
Up to about 130 feet.
I'd say between 8-50 feet deep.
The colorado river is very deep due to its location at the grand canyon, which makes the river deep.
Grand Canyon
It was the Colorado River.
A very deep cleft in the earth with the Colorado River at the bottom.
1st of course would be the Colorado plateau. Where would the river flow if it came first before the plateau? 2nd would be the Colorado river. As time went by, the Colorado river continually eroded the plateau until it had carved out a deep canyon from the plateau. This would then be the start of the Grand Canyon.
The Colorado River gradually eroded the rocks, cutting the deep gorge we see today.
Grand Canyon :)
Many fossil footprints were left in the Grand Canyon by more than 20 species of reptiles and amphibians, but no one has ever found a fossilized reptile skeleton or bone there. The Grand Canyon is about one mile deep. The Grand Canyon was formed by the Colorado River.
grand canyon.
Grand Canyon :)
The formation of the Grand Canyon was accomplished by the constant erosion of the rock by the Colorado River over some 17 million years. Over time the river was able to carve a very deep channel into the Colorado Plateau. Links are provided to specifics regarding the geology of the Grand Canyon.
Besides many different types of sea life, mountains and deep valleys have been found. Some of the valley are as deep as the Grand Canyon and no one knows how it was formed. The Grand Canyon was formed by the Colorado River but we have no idea about the ones on the ocean floors.
