Contrary to popular belief, Alexander the great was in many ways much more then a conqueror. He spread what he believed (Greek Myths stories and beliefs) Wherever her went, and showed respect towards the citizens of places he conquered. He was said to have made a mess of battles, IE he made it a true bloodbath, but this is not quite true. He did what he had to do to win... I could sit here and type all day, but that's all I can tell you about how he spread Greek Culture.
He established over 70 cities modeled on Greek city-states to provide the environment (modestly naming half of them Alexandria after himself). He brought in Greek as the language of commerce. He placed Greek governors over most of the provinces. He made his senior soldiers marry Persian women. He enlisted Persian aristocratic youth into his army. He died young and left the work to his generals, who promptly went to fighting each other over a share of the empire, so separate kingdoms were set up, and the Hellenisation went no lower than the upper class, whe mass of people following their traditional ways.
Asia and North Africa.
He also spread the Greek philosophies called the Hellenic culture that lead to much of the Western culture of today. DSKO. Everyone knows that famous date.
He was out to conquer the known world and was Greek, so to control the he conquered he brought with him Greek culture.
Greek culture spread as far as southern Italy, Sicily, and the Mediterranean coast of France(Nice), and eastward throughout the coast of Asia Minor. Later, with Alexander the Great, it spread into Mesopotamia and northern Egypt.
During the Hellenistic Period (roughly the fourth century BC through the first century BC) Greek culture spread throughout the Mediterranean, first by Alexander the Great's conquest, then by the Roman empire.
