during the era of good feelings the country grew in many ways. From 1812 six new states joined the United State's people in these new frontier states had their own way of doing thing's passed laws allowing all white men over the age of 21 to vote.In the original 13 states, only those who owned property could vote. The older states soon changed their voting laws as well.As a result, almost three times more men voted in 1828 than voted in 1824
All Adult white Males could then vote.
the voting laws of the western states allowed any white man over age 21 to vote
There were no national elections in 1823. Between 1824 and 1828, the Jackson supporters figured out what it might take to win in 1828 and did it.
The voting requirements change that affected the 1828 election was the relaxation of the property qualification for voting. This lead to more people voting in this election, and led to Andrew Jackson's election to the presidency.

Andrew Jackson's 1828 victory signaled changes in who voters saw as their elected leader. Instead of thinking in terms of state and local control and seeing themselves represented by their Congressman, Jackson was for a strong Federal leader

1796 was the first contested election. The two party system began to appear with that election, although it was not until 1828 that two national parties began to rule the election system as they do today.
