American Indians were hunters and gatherers. They killed animals by constructing bows and arrows and tomahawks. They used rocks to make arrows, bowls, cups, etc. The skin of the animals were used to build their teepees.
Though there are many different tribes, all used natural resources for food, clothing, housing, weapons, tools, toys.....etc.
Here is an example:
Plains Indians- Teepees (lodges) were made out of the hides of American Buffalo (Bison) and lodge poles.
Clothing was made out of various animal skins (deer, rabbit, wolf pelts) with certain decorative items containing elk teeth and porcupine quills.
Food was primarily buffalo, deer and other small game, roots, and certain types of fruits/nuts/berries.
Tools could be made from buffalo horn, hoof, bladder, and plant materials.
Weapons were made from animal sinew, wood, bird feathers, and stone
The Iroquois depended on the natural resources around them to meet all of their basic needs. Because they lived in the Eastern Woodlands of North America, their food, clothing, and shelter, as well as the materials for making their tools and weapons came from their environment. Their villages were located near lakes and streams that provided water for drinking, fishing, and a means of transportation.Um its corn, bean and squash, including animal meat.
The Osage Indians lived in the Great Plains for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the location provided the tribes with the resources needed to sustain life, with plentiful wild game, fishing, and other resources. Secondly, the flat plains made it easier to move around and hunt, while the hills and rivers provided natural defenses against enemy tribes. Finally, the presence of other tribes in the area meant that the Osage could trade and interact with their neighbors, providing another source of goods and resources. The Great Plains also provided the Osage with the following advantages: Plethora of available wildlife for hunting and gathering Flat terrain for easy travel and hunting Natural defenses from enemies Opportunities for trading with other tribesThe Osage Indians' presence in the Great Plains allowed them to utilize the resources available in the area to form prosperous communities and develop their culture.

The kinds of food the Native Americans ate, the clothing they wore, and the shelters they had depended upon the seasons. Their foods changed with the seasons. In winter, they hunted birds and animals and lived on stored foods from the previous fall. In spring, they hunted, fished and picked berries. In summer, they grew crops (beans, corn, and squash). In fall, they harvested crops and hunted for foods to preserve and keep for the winter. The Native Americans used natural resources in every aspect of their lives. They used animal skins (deerskin) as clothing. Shelter was made from the material around them (saplings, leaves, small branches, animal fur). Native peoples of the past farmed, hunted, and fished. They used natural resources such as rock, twine, bark, and oyster shell to farm, hunt, and fish.
Historic cultures all around the world have been shaped by three essential factors:climatenatural resources such as the availability of drinking water, shelter and foodpopulation densityThe Americas (North, Central and South) have such a wide variation in climates and natural resources that a very wide range of cultural groups developed. Natural resources are always dependent on climate, while population density depends on the available resources, so climate has to be the greatest factor.
