It first came out in Japan on the Nintendo 64DD, a pheriphal for the 64 released only in Japan. It was called Animal Forest, which is it's Japan name. Then it came to America as Animal Crossing for Gamecube. Then Wild World for DS and City Folk for Wii.

∙ 12y agoIt was a dark and stormy night in the Nintedo of Japan building. Ideas for a new game were being pitched back and forth in meetings. Suddenly, the idea for a life simulation game sprung from it. With the help of Kazumi Totoka for doing the music for the game, and a huge group to work on the programming and art, this game came to be in 2001, for the Nintendo 64 in Japan, later to be ported to the Gamecube in both Japan and every other country. -TB
